On March 2, 2009 Interim president Celia Esposito-Noy stepped in to fill the spot for President Francisco Rodriguez when he moved to southern California to work as the district superintendant and president for MiraCosta community college.
Meanwhile CRC's hiring committee has been working on forwarding names of suitable candidates to fill the permanent position as president. The Interim position of president will last through till June 30.
Georgine Hodgkinson is a member serving on the hiring committee and a current professor of communications.
"The next stage in the process will be for CRC constituency groups to participate in the impressions meetings which I imagine will be scheduled in early May," said Hodgkinson in an email interview.
Hodgkinson said the details of the process are highly confidential and said she could not say much more than that.
Interim president Esposito-Noy is the vice president of student services and has had to find a temporary person to fill her spot while she is currently fulfilling a role with new responsibilities.
"We selected Debra Luff from Sacramento City College to serve as interim Vice President of Student Services and she has done an outstanding job," said Esposito-Noy.
Esposito-Noy said that her role has been minimal in that she has been consulted on issues but the decisions have been made by the Student Services division leadership.
She said her duties as president has been different than those of a vice president.
"I spend more time off campus at meetings or working with the community on projects and representing the interests of the college and our district," said Esposito-Noy.
Esposito-Noy said she is working with staff on our capital campaign in support of our Winn Center and is more involved with our Foundation.
"Everyone at the college has been tremendously helpful and supportive," said Esposito-Noy. "In spite of the transition in leadership happening mid-semester, the college community has remained focused on the important work at hand."
She said it's because of the support of the Vice Presidents, the management team, faculty and staff that she has been able to take on this role.
